Eligibility
Applicants must be institutions or non-profit organizations actively engaged in education or human resources development activities in an APEC member economy. Consortia among these entities are encouraged. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals or for personal needs of applicants.
Award
Criteria
In awarding grants, AEF will give preference to projects that meet the following criteria:

Address issues of regional concern and importance as established by APEC Leaders or |

Ministers |

Make a significant or unique contribution in relation to other work being done in the field |

Produce measurable and sustainable outcomes from the standpoint of beneficiaries |
 |
Include arrangements for matching in kind or by funding |
 |
Encourage collaboration among economic enterprises and educational institutions |
 |
Encourage multilateral cooperation across the region |
 |
Note: Support will not be provided for indirect costs of applicant institutions such as the |

purchase of equipment and supplies, or for programs undertaken for the purpose of promoting |
| |
any specific business entity/institution/religious organization. |
Grant Period
The AEF provides funding for all grants on an annual basis. For multi-year projects, AEF decides on continuation of support and the amount to be allocated based on the previous year¡¯s performance as well as the proportion of cost sharing.
Application
Procedures
Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to submit an executive summary with their proposals. While there is no formal application form, proposals should include:
Purpose of the project
Plan for activities
Period of time for which grants are requested
Detailed budget
Arrangements for matching funding, which may include in-kind matches
Projected results
The organization¡¯s current budget and legal status
It is also recommended that the proposal address the following points:
Coherence with the mission and purpose of the APEC Education Foundation
Needs to be addressed
Description of the principal individuals and organizations involved
Experience and background of applicants in the related fields
Qualifications of those who will be engaged in the project
Explanation of how outcomes will be measured
In order to be considered, all proposals must be endorsed by the applicant organization¡¯s chief executive officer. The Secretariat staff of the APEC Education Foundation may be consulted in the development of proposals.
Announcement of Grants
An Evaluation Committee and the Foundation's Board of Governors will review the grant applications. Applicants will be notified of the results as soon as feasible, usually within two months.
